For a business with one to fifteen people in the field, the choice is usually Jobber or Housecall Pro. The question that decides it is how each one talks to QuickBooks. ServiceTitan is built for larger shops and publishes no prices. In a reply to a Better Business Bureau complaint, as reported by getonecrew.com, it said it is not optimized for companies with fewer than three technicians.

How each connects to QuickBooks

JobberOnline only, from the Connect plan up. No active sync with Desktop.Clients come from QuickBooks into Jobber. Invoices and payments go from Jobber to QuickBooks.Invoices and payments land on the parent customer only. A payment not applied to an invoice arrives as an unapplied payment. Housecall ProOnline, from Essentials up. Desktop also connects; confirm which plans include it.Invoices, payments, new customers and new price book items, one way.Edit an invoice after it syncs and you push it again by hand. Deleted invoices are deleted in QuickBooks by hand. Estimates do not sync.
ServiceTitanOnline and Desktop.Customers, invoices, payments, bills, purchase orders, items and sales tax, exported to QuickBooks. On QuickBooks Online, exported invoices cannot be edited, customers with the same name are told apart by hand, and sales tax must come from ServiceTitan. Invoices and payments move one way, from the job software to QuickBooks, and that is why the two drift apart. Our guide on why the figures drift apart covers which system should own which record. Why Jobber and QuickBooks figures never agree

What you can take with you if you leave

Jobber exports clients, properties and contacts as spreadsheets, up to 1,500 rows a file, on some plans and mainly for administrators. Housecall Pro exports customers and jobs. Neither company documents a bulk export of job photos, and one Jobber user describes downloading and uploading them one at a time. Ask about photos and notes before you sign up, because that is often the slowest part of leaving.

Contracts

Jobber runs month to month, on a one year commitment, or prepaid for a year, and the prepaid year is not refunded. Housecall Pro says it has no long term contracts. ServiceTitan's terms are set in each contract, so ask for the notice period and any early exit fee in writing before you sign.

Which one fits

A one truck business that wants quotes, a schedule and invoices: Jobber Core or Housecall Pro Basic. Neither entry plan connects to QuickBooks; for that you need Jobber Connect or Housecall Pro Essentials. A crew of five to fifteen that lives in QuickBooks Online: Jobber, whose connection is built around Online. A shop still on QuickBooks Desktop: Housecall Pro, or move the books first. Twenty technicians and a dispatcher: that is ServiceTitan's market.

Landscapers have a fourth option, LMN, built for their trade. LMN help: setup, cleanup and support

What we do

We set up or clean up whichever one you have, connect it to QuickBooks so an invoice is entered once, and check the two against each other every week. When your numbers show the software is holding the business back, we recommend the move and run it, with both systems running until every record is checked.

Common questions

Is Jobber or Housecall Pro cheaper?

For one user, Jobber Core costs $49 a month on monthly billing and $29 billed yearly. Housecall Pro Basic costs $79 a month on monthly billing and $59 billed yearly. For a team of five, Housecall Pro Essentials is $189 a month or $149 billed yearly, and Jobber Connect with five users is $199 a month or $149 billed yearly. Both companies change their plans often, so check the pricing page on the day you decide.

Does Jobber work with QuickBooks Desktop?

No. Jobber says it has no active sync with QuickBooks Desktop. Its connection runs to QuickBooks Online. Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan both connect to Desktop.

Is ServiceTitan worth it for a small company?

Below three technicians, usually not. ServiceTitan quotes per technician, and has said in a reply to a Better Business Bureau complaint that it is not optimized for companies that small. From three to fifteen technicians, compare its quote against Jobber or Housecall Pro.
